I had my first astrology reading in 1968 and several others through subsequent years. While I found them to be incredibly helpful, I was totally baffled by the language of astrology--how could someone get all that information out of those houses, signs, and planets? I tried to learn, but was unsuccessful. Then I had a class from Maridel, and with it came clarity and understanding. Her system of "one planet, one sign, one house" -- that is, teaching each planet with its corresponding sign and house, was the key to finally being able to learn astrology. Thanks, Maridel, for helping me learn what was once an indecipherable language to me.

Maridel Bowes is the best teacher I have ever had – and I’ve had a lot of teachers over the course of my life and education. She is well organized and presents her subject matter with substance, depth, and clarity--but that is not the real reason she is the best. Maridel has led me on a voyage of self- discovery that has been nothing short of phenomenal!

I’ll never forget what ignited the spark that of this journey that has now led to becoming an astrologer myself. One of the first things Maridel said to me about my chart was, “For the sake of your soul, you need to live by water.” How could she have known that for my whole life, every time I had gone to look for a house, “by water” was at the top of my list? I was hooked. I’ve continued taking classes from her ever since, and I will probably go on to teach classes myself using the skills I have gleaned from Maridel.

Maridel is also extremely creative in her means of conveying information – ways that make both the substance and the feeling of the information stick. Some of these were simple things like having us physically recreate the energy of a ‘square’ in our charts, or doing a collage about our Venus. Although I’ve have taken classes from her across the last 12 years, and the information has never felt old or repetitious as it is always conveyed with new depth and nuance.

Knowing Maridel and learning from her has been one of those peak experiences in my life, and has colored every aspect of it. I highly recommend her as a teacher and as a person.

Beginning astrology is like learning a foreign language. Maridel's approach is a step-by-step process that makes the complicated material easy to understand.
